I am strongly considering stripping the clear coat off of my tank this winter and removing the "Harley Davidson" decal on my 07' superglide. I was origonally going to do some silver leaf but when I was brousing through my HD catolog I found this emblem:
It's for a 61/62 FL model but HD makes mounting kits with 3m self adhesive to fit current fat bob tanks.
I think a simple chrome 3D emblem on the black tank would accent the bike nicely as I have added the front fender trim and it has little spashes of chrome on it. I did a photochop of the bike with the emblem. What do ya think?
That logo caught my eye as soon as I saw it. Like I said, I was going to do some aluminumleaf but the results are up in the air if I would truely like it. Also, I always thought the raised chrome emblems on tanks were classy looking and it would be very cheap to do. I MIGHT wind up having to have my buddy Kenny re-clear it and re-paint it dependent upon how easily the stock emblem comes off.
I have a set of these emblems with the backing plates up on ebay if your interested. Bought them to use myself but decided on a custom paint with no emblem. I do like the way they look though.
