Things just fly off.
2500 miles into my "new" 01 fxd and I really like this bike. But - things (after market of course) of a habit of flying off. So far I lost 4 head bolt covers and one seat hold down screw. Lock tight blue and both but they fly off. I can live with it. Just wondering if any one else is having this much fun.

Funny you mention that - I have to re-tighten my SEII slipons after everyride. They slip back about 3/4 of an inch each ride. I'll keep a closer eye on them now.!

you may not be tightening them enough.
Or, maybe you should just go ahead and run a screw in.

Clamp is snug. Don't want to gorilla it any more. I was going to losen it up and run a thin strip hvac foil then slip the clamp over and retighten. Maybe the clamps stretched a bit. If that doesn't work I'll give the screw a shot. Thanks for the advice.
Do you have them torqued to 60ft/lbs? On first install, I didn't torque, tightened them to [what I thought was] very tight and they moved a good 1/2 inch. A week later I torqued them to spec and found I pulled a full turn and a 1/2 more than what I had originally tightened. Haven't slipped since.

No - I just used my euro torque wrench - "gooden tite". I'll crank up the snap-on to 60lbs and let you know. I would have never taken out the wrench for slip-on clamps. thanks. Great day riding up here on Long Island NY btw. These things run great in the cool weather!

Had my SEII's, at the time, installed at the stealership, and they drilled and riveted them together.

Torque wrench + proper torque values + loctite
(the red is really strong. If you think you will be changing the item from time to time, use the blue loctite. For heavy/big items, go with the red.) I've learned this the hard way.
