I know one gets what they pay for, I bought some really cheap throw over saddle bags off the web, and saddle bag guards from Harley. My question is do they make a good set of throw over bags? Or do you all recommend just getting a set of bolt on bags with the quick release brackets? And do they make quick release brackets if you have a quick release sissy bar?
I just bought a really quality set of throw-overs from Leatherworks. I've run throwovers for 20 years, and I love 'em.
I know guys who swear by their easy-offs, but it's just not for me.
Aimee from Leatherworks worked with me via email for a long time, making sure she knew what I wanted. Even sent me a template so I could let her know how long of a yoke I needed to set 'em where I wanted 'em.
I had her modify a set of 119's to be exactly what I wanted. Great to work with.
I have to buy mounting hardware for a set of side plates for a detachable backrest, is there special hardware for the "All-in-one" removal. as Freddyyttt has?

Remember, if you get EZ-Brackets or other bolt-ons, you will have to relocate your rear turn signals.
Yes, they make really good throw overs and really good bolt ons. They also make really crappy versions of both. Since this is the Dyna section and there seems to be an overwhelming fear of "wrecking the looks of your bike" with saddlebags, I would say get a decent set of bolt ons and some quick release brackets. I personally recommend EZ brackets since I had an aggravating experience with Edge brackets, but thats just me. Also, if you do some research you will find that many high end bags come with there own brackets so don't get too hung up on that. Iron Bags probably makes the best throw overs money can buy as well as great bolt ons. Fox Creek, Leatherneck Jim's, Boss Bags and our own site sponsor US Saddlebags also make good ones. And it sounds like you have not so good ones that you are looking to replace. Whats the budget?
