V + H Slashdown mufflers

I just put a set of these on my '11 FXDC. These are the slip-ons with the 3" heat shields. The heat shield on the back (top) pipe has about1/4" to 3/8" gap where it meets the header pipe heat shield. Has anyone else run into this or did I install something wrong? I checked everything over and all is set where it's supposed to be. It looks like the heat shield on the muffler sticks out too far or the head pipe heat shield is in too far. Neither seem like they are adjustable in or out. The front lower muffler fits perfectly. Any ideas would be good. It just bugs the hell out of me everytime I look at it.
