Im new to the bike scene if it was for a car or truck i'd know exactly what to get but a bike???
I like my vehicles loud, ive got a glasspack on my truck but seeing as im not going to have a cab around me on a bike which pipes would be the best? I definately want to be heard but dont want it to be like a straight pipe. im already deaf enough from driving my truck around but i also am looking at some of the discount type brands. what would you suggest?
You didnt say what bike you have or what year it is. Some pipe makers dont make some of their pipes for older bikes. I am going to put Vance and Hines Big Radius pipes on my bike they are loud but not too loud.
Just put a set of vance & hines big radius on my new wide glide, good sound but not too loud.If pipes are too loud you get problems with neighbors when coming home late or leaving early.
Trying to decide on something also (2010 FXDC). At this point I'm kinda leaning to Rush but I haven't totally made up my mind. Here is a link for some Rush sound bytes: http://www.epiflex.com/dyna95_10.html
I put Vance & Hines short shots on mine. They are loud enough for me. Wearing a half helmet and riding all day long is harder on my hearing from the wind than the pipes.
If you're just after sound, you can't beat Vance & Hines or Samson. Vance & Hines would be my choice.
I've always wanted performance to go with sound, so I've had quite a few. Here are my experiences:
Cycle Shack slip ons: Too loud, no low end.
Screamin Eagle slip ons: Great sound, good performance.
Rush slip on 1.75 baffle: Great sound, poor performance.
Khromewerks slip ons: Terrible sound, poor mid-range on 96".
Rinehart 2-1: Great sound, killed the low end.
D&D fat cat both Q/B and standard B: Great performance, sound Ok.
Thunderheader: Great sound and performance. I've had this pipe for about 2 years now.
I wouldn't mind going back to a Fatcat in the future, but the Thunderheader is great for now.
