Howdy folks. I've got an '08 Dyna Wide Glide that I'm doing a makeover on. Trying to get away from the "Anniversary" stuff and make it my own.
My problem is that I can't find handlebars for it. The stock bars are 1.25", non-stepped, 12" mini ape hangers. I'm looking to go to 14" ape hangers and all braided cables. The issue is that I have only been able to find a couple of handlebar mfg's that make a 14" x 1.25" non-stepped bar (Carlini, & LA Choppers), but they are NOT knurled. A buddy of mine has a set of 16" LA Chopper bars on his '07 Wide Glide and he's tried everything to get them to not slip, with no luck.
Are there any sponsors on this site, or perhaps another vendor one of you may know of, that makes 14" x 1.25" knurled ape hangers? I know I 'could' change the risers to accommodate 14" x 1.25" bars that step down to 1" at the risers but I would prefer to stay with the beefier looking risers. Any help is appreciated!
there are several place's that can build you 1 off's, nash, br, I personally run nash pudgy gimps in 16" and they are not knurled and never move. but my risers have alot of surface area so that may be the trick.
you can buy those bars and have them knurled at a machine shop im sure it wouldnt cost very much.
Also I just bought a set of 14" evil apes from carlini and they came knurled maybe the ones you are looking at are different but im sure if you call them they can have their machine shop do it for you they have pretty good customer service.
i would hit up doc v twin or contact hogrida on here. he made me my bars and i lvoe them! you can also find him on facebook or his website at, www.hogrida.com
Drew and Sean at doc v twin are so helpful!
have you buddy cut some emery cloth and put them on the bars lock back in the risers and theyw ill not slip at all any more bud
