I purchased a set of Ohlins rear shocks from Motorcycle Metal last month and wanted to give a little update on my experience so far.
In the last four weeks I have made three trips to the Daytona Beach area with my 08 Street Bob (about 500 mile round trip) and it has been a pleasure. The ride is smooth yet very secure through turns. most importantly, I have not had the fatigue issues I was dealing with after 4 hours on the bike and my wife, who traveled with me last weekend, can even feel the difference.
Howard at Motorcycle Metal was a pleasure to deal with and I'm looking forward to having him work on my front end as soon as it is in the budget.
I can't agree with you more. I did the very same upgrade this winter. Unfortunately I haven't had as many opportunities to do any really long rides. However, I can already tell the ride is so much better. In fact it made me order a whole new front end from Howard. You can't go wrong with Ohlins!
but there so damn ugly aren`t they the silly yello ones
I wouldn't have gotten them if they were yellow, not all of them are, but mine are black and aluminum and nicely machined and finished. Here's a pic so you can see what I mean. They aren't cheap but worth every penny to me. [/IMG]
Agree with your assessment, wiat til you get the front end done, its like driving a STS caddy now. I like the yellow ones. will be PC ing my lowers ohlins yellow too.
Congrats. Ohlins makes awesome shocks! You're going to love the way the bike rides with the Ohlins cartridges in the front end too.

Ohlins have an incredible magic carpet ride...and they sure do add great rear lateral stability. It is an amazing difference over cheap shoks and stockers. Worth every penny. Alas, though, I am running the Ricors instead of my Ohlins as they offer an equal ride and stability with a much better looking finish.
Man those are nice shocks real nice, How much were they if you dont mind me asking. I also needed new shocks for my FXDF and also thought about the Ricors and Works Performance and ended up going with Works, Tom over at Works helped me big time and we setup a set of Black Trackers to my specs for my Fat Bob and they look great quality wise
