Default fuel gauge problems

I have a 2009 street bob and I just changed the bars out... well when i took my tank of the fuel gauge worked... put the bike back together and took it for a little test ride and got the r ol code.... almost out of gas code... so I then look at the gauge and its stock on e causing me to get a code... any ideas?? Yes the gauge is plugged in... when the tank was off could it have gotten the float stuck when i was moving it around? I'm lost

Why did you take the tank off when changing your bars?

My fuel gauge has never worked. Never shows more than 1/3 of a tank even when full. Shows me at empty almost all the time.

I have never paid attention to it. I tend to just get gas every 150-180 miles.

Mine's off kilter - shows empty + low fuel warning light + indicating that I can only go another 25 miles before I'm out of gas ... then when I fill up it only takes about 3.5 gallons.

turns out my problem was incorrect wiring... after i disconnected the wires from the plug i didnt put them back in the correct places. you didnt undo any of the wiring did you?

the float's easy enough to check, pull the dash then undo all the T20 screws and put your hand in. the float's in the top right corner of the tank.

Lol. I don't care enough to do all that. I plan to ditch the gauge anyway.

But thanks for the info!!!
