Yea, its probably that simple. I would really get that fixed.

ORIGINAL: SPECIAL ED

First things first check tire pressure. That's the easiest, then alignment, then maybe have the wheels trued.I'd say balance but that rarely causes a wobble usually more like a vibration.I went round and round with this on one bike before finally deciding it just didn't like a particular model tire.I switched brands and the wobble stopped.Good luck.

Don't forget to check the Fall Away for your bike. Mine was really loose from the stealer. I shimmed it up to spec and my little wobble at 80 is gone.

Now I can WOT for miles.

My '06 lowrider doesn't show any speed wobbles (was just doing 75 - 85 on the highway this morning), but I have noticed the back end starting to wobble when rolling on throttle when heeled over in a corner at high speed (one particular highway merge in our area). I think that is related to the whole dyna engine stabilizer issue - and there are after market stabilizers that supposedly take care of that.

Btw - I usually have the windshield on, and I don't notice any real problems with that up to 85 mph.

Happened to me last year. Highway, 75 mph + had a serious wobble. Got it home and found out I had a missing upper engine mount bolt. Those bolts (2) are on the left side engine kinda' behind the horn cover. The mount plate attaches to both cylinders. These must be tight. Also, there was a thread on this issue awhile back, I think, something about WG having a "fall away" issue was causing a wobble.

Check those upper motor mounts!

Ok, this is probably a stupid question so be gentle but, what is a Fall Away?

What kind of windshield do you use?

It is a compact HD quick release, standard size.

I have been trying to pay attention to the behavior of the windshield since you and I last spoke about it online.

It has been inconsistent - and I notice it depends a lot on the wind direction.

I just started a thread about windshield buffeting to try and learn other people's experiences.

I do feel buffeting at higher speeds - and it varies with the headwind - but I have not felt the front end is unstable or not sure footed at the higher speeds.

Good point about the headwind. In fact, come to think of if, the last time I rode with the shield and experienced the unstableness at freeway+ speeds, there was a strong headwind.

Although I don't think this relates directly to your experience, I have picked up a "wobble" on a few ocassions.

Last week was a new front end experience:

Riding and camping with a friend, and his wife, I was riding solo.
Solo seat with luggage on the back fender rack. The main load was hanging on the sissy bar, where a second rider would normally be sitting. A smaller luggage bag was hung on the back of the sissy bar with a ground pad for the tent strapped under that.
The total weight of all the gear couldn't have been more than 75 lbs.
Anyway, every once in awhile, I thought maybe I was feeling a slight wobbling, but not really sure. After about 150 miles of riding I decided to let go of the handle bars, Wow!!!!! Without any hands on the grips the handle bars wobbled, and shook like crazy.
All I had to do to stop it was put one hand on the grips, and the wobble quit.
This condition continued throughout the trip at most any speed except very, very fast.

I rode today without any gear, and at all speeds, even in excess of 100 mph no wobble at all (don't recommend letting go at 100 mph).

Best I can figure is I need to set the shocks at a higher setting than 3 when putting that amount of gear on the bike.
I know the tires had plenty of air in them.

I don't know what the answer is here, but thought I should bring this up for the folks that may be hauling luggage, or a passenger.

Next camping trip I will set shocks on 5, and see if that cures the wobble.

BTW, I only weigh about 165 ils. with a bunch of extra clothing on for cold weather riding.
