Great day to ride out in the Chicago burbs today. As I climbed on my bob to roll it out from the garage to the drive to give it a quick wash I noticed it didn't want to roll easy (in neutral). Got off and looked down to find the rear rim on the floor. My first flat! So after a few calls I find that my ESP will not cover a tow for this incident, the dealer doesn't have anyone that can pick it up today, and I didn't put roadside on my progressive coverage (as I thought my ESP would do it all). Fortunately the GF's dad is coming out with his bike trailer so we can get to the dealer today and get me back on the road.
I found the nail in the tread. It's a tubed tire. They should be able to just replace the tube, not the tire also right? Tread depth is great at only a little over 2K miles on the bike now.

Sorry about the bad luck, but as previous poster noted at least you were in in the garage and not on the road. Replacing the tube is a no-brainer; the tire casing will require careful inspection to determine whether it can be saved or re-used. It's possible that the different plies or cords have suffered damage to the point the tire is unsafe to use, in which case replacement is necessary. If the tire looks questionable, err on the safe side and opt for a new one. Ride safe.
Where are you located in ? I'm from Orland Park. What dealer do you work with/ My dealer in Oak Lawn closed looking for somewhere honest to take my bike that does good work.
Thanks for the replies. After a few hours of hanging around the dealer and grabbing a burrito next store they had me on my way. Had to shell out about $270 for the tire and tube because they said the tire must be replaced (without even looking at it). My guess is it's a liability issue? I was also pissed off to find that my ESP that I paid for covered nada when I was under the impression it would. I couldn't even get a tow from them. But I guess the guy who sold it to me forgot to mention the add-on road hazard for wheel and tire issues (which would have been about the same price of this bill)
Either way the bike is fixed and home. I even got a bit of riding in after doing a few mods. Now I just have to start looking to switch out my wheels and tires for tubeless so I won't have to worry about any more costly flat expenses.... and of course dodge nails until then!

I bought mine at Wildfire. If I'm not mistaken they are partnered with City Limits and Chicago Harley. They bought out the Oak Lawn location and closed it down to spread out the Chicagoland dealerships a bit more.
Everyone there is really cool, though I have had a few recent disappointments with them.
Your right, same guy owns Wild-Fire, City Limits, Windy City and Illinois HD. I heard that he will be closing Illinois Harley and openning a new dealership off I-55 and Joliet Road this summer. The rumor here Is it will be called Route 66 Harley. The Oak Lawn people don't really like them for some reason or another. I miss Oak Lawn Harley they were good people to deal with.
