Oil capacity discrepancy

Oil capacity discrepancy
I just did a 500 mile oil change on my 2011 Fat Bob (I know it's not necessary @ 500 but I had the time and figured why not). The service manual calls for 2.5 quarts for a wet fill and I've read on some forums as much as 3. I just put 2 quarts, 9oz in and the dipstick reads at the right mark at hot. About a 1/4 quart short. Could this be due to the fact that I am using synthetic? Anyone have this issue before? Thanks in advance.

Consult your user manual... there is a 'cold' check, and a 'hot' check. The 'cold' check is more or less to verify you have oil. The 'hot' check is to verify the actual level required in the motor.
There is a difference between the two, due to the amount of oil that will drain back when cold, or the amount that will still be in the engine oil passageways when hot.
It's not an "issue"
