wow thanks for a the replys! and yes it does sound like its from the front left side but it just sounds so electronic i kept thinking at had to be from the horn.. and yes it wont be long before i wont hear it anyway! again thanks for the info
2011 Wide Glide here, get the same buzz from the front brakes. It is the sound of air trapped in the vents on the rotors as it goes past the pads. I had a race car with cross drilled front rotors and the car would whistle when the brakes were applied for the exact same reason. Completely normal. I cured it by putting on a set of V&H Big Radius 2 into 2 pipes. Now I cant even hear myself think....lol
Yes, it is a new design. Hello fellow Seabee! I was a EOCP with NMCB 3 out of Port Hueneme 79 - 99. I had a friend from my home town of Salem, Ma and he was a BU. He was stationed on THE USS Constitution "Old Ironside" in Boston. It is made out of wood! Lucky duck was able to drive back home to Salem 21 miles north for 18 months. I ran into him at a party at my house in CA. From there we worked and partied together in Guam.
dreamer65 I hear the same noises on my 2010 FXD. A little buzzing when I hit the front brake. The howling, I have no idea. lol on the ol lady huh!
I have some friends who stayed in. Apparently a lot has changed since I got out from what I recall they told me that deployment/homeport lengths have changed so you get to stay in homeport a lot longer.
I think we may have taken over deployment sights for 3, though it may have been 1 too, my memory isn't what it used to be.
I recall Guam. Though on my first deployment there, all my closest friends ended up getting sent to small det sites so it wasn't as fun as it could have been.
Regarding the brake sound, mine made me think of a fire truck far off in the distance when I first heard it.
my 09 FB only does it when i put on the front brakes and when they are clean. They squeak when they are dirty (i don't need new brakes, my truck does the same thing with new brakes)
My `11 FXDC has done the same thing Pol. I took the advice you are getting and will soon install a set of V&H Big Radius 2-2 and viola, noise will be gone... 700 miles in & no problems from this issue.
Most bikes I've owned have done this to some extent, I have a `04 1100 Vstar (for sale, and not ridden since I got the Dyna) it has twin discs up front, so I got that buzz in stereo when riding it, Cobra Slash-Cuts solved that problem....
