This is what I go by for my 04 (the manual). I don't use Harley oil as I put different oil in tranny, engine and primary. I change all the oils at the same time to get it over with.

Yea the manual says to change every 5000 miles, well I use synthetic oil and it's still brand new at 5000 miles.

Normally I would change all three at the same time also but, the tranny oil still looks new after 5000 miles.

I change all three at the same time. Why, cause I'm funny that way, its cheap, easy and it can't hurt the bike. I use the Harley tranny/primary fluid and split the bottle in half. Then I add 25% (5 oz on and evo) Lucas oil stabilizer and 25% (5 oz) Mobil1 synthetic gear lube. Works for me.

I think my service manual for my 05 states 20K for primary and tranny oil. I do it every two oil changes or once a year. I am using Amsoil 20w50 right now... gonna try redline gear oil and primary oil next change.
