Default a REALLY stupid question...

You guys are going to think I'm a flipping idiot... but I'd rather ask a question than force something and possibly break it.

Ok.. here goes.

2011 Street Bob. Standard seat + passenger pillion. The question is (try not to laugh) HOW DO I TAKE THE SEAT OFF?

Pictures are at the end of this.

I've taken off the screw at the back of the passenger pillion, and the back of the seat loosens, but the front is stuck tight. I look under the fender and I can see there's some kind of captive fastener under the front part of the pillion, so there's probably a connection at this point between the front seat and the passenger seat. But I can't get to the other side of it.

The instructions that come with this passenger pillion say to loosen the strap that goes over the front of the passenger pillion... but there's NO strap.

So yeah... I'm feeling about as smart as a fence post.. but how do I take the seat off?

On my wide glide you remove the rear pillion and just wiggle the seat out. Then there is another allen key bolt to remove the solo seat. i cant see it being any different on your bike. When you removed the passenger pillion screw were you able to wiggle the seat a bit to see in between the pillion and the solo seat.

The very front of the rider seat is just a clip that slides under a bracket. Just pull it backwards.

Ah ok ! Thanks! I pulled at it a bit, was worried that I'd break something if I yanked any harder. I'll try the wiggle technique.

Thanks again!

Just grab it and give it a good yank, if it breaks, it needed to be replaced! Or buy a new bike I guess!! Seriously give the "Mr Wiggle" technique a try.

they took the strap off, push the pillion towards the front, push hard, underneath there is a hole with a slot hit the hole and pull up, dont have to be gentle its tight. then there is a bolt with a torx deally, youll see it when you get it. youll really have to push down to get it back on then slide it back, same as mine wifey loves it, and it only takes a min to change it to my barebones. you'll get it .

I think it was explained a little weird. Remove the phillips head ( dont scratch the rear fender). Then you push the passenger pad forward one inch against the driver seat so it gets to the release spot. the hole is pear shaped and will only release when pushed to the right spot. BTW that rear seat makes it a little harder than the stocker. Once off the driver seat is gravy. Just get a torx bit and remove the bolt. Getting the rear seat back on is a pain. You will see. That rear seat is the same one I bought the lady for when she rides. No wife= no rear seat. So I take mine on and off frequent. It feels like you are going to push the bike off the kick stand. Thats about how hard you have to push forward. Pete

On my 2007 SB the solo seat hooks up at the back of the tank, the pillion was bolted to the solo seat and the rear of the pillion was bolted at the rear like your pics but I also had a strap which was bolted to the fender under the solo seat and went over the front part of the pillion and held the whole thing down tight in the middle.

As you have'nt got the strap you should just need to unbolt the rear of the pillion, pull the whole lot rearwards and voila ! Then unbolt the two seats, fit the tab supplied to the solo seat and slide the seat forwards and bolt it down at the rear.

*edit*..WG must be different..oops !
