Guys,
I was just on Harley's website and noticed they have only 4 Dyna's listed. Superglide Custom, Wide Glide, Fat Bob and Street Bob. What is going on?
No more Superglide or Low.
Yep, they have been trying to move all theSporty owners straight to Softails.
My local dealer GM and I were yapping a few weeks ago and he was complaining that they have so many Dynas they can't move, and they are only getting more.
I think H-D is trying to balance the supply vs. demand.
H-D also jacked the price on the cheapest Sportster $1K from 2010 to 2011. You can't have a big twin like the entry level Superglide selling for just a bit more than a Sportster.
If it doesn't sell they'll stop building it! Those are the four best selling Dyna's they have had over the last few years which is why they are the only ones. Like someone said in another thread, the MoCo needs to build a good touring Dyna to help sell more, after all its the only larger engine bike they sell with out a bagged model.
I am sure that if the MoCo dropped the price of the softies down about $2000 they would say they wouldn't have a reason to build Dyna's at all.
True,
The reason I bought the FXD over all other Dyna's was it was only about $1K more than a sporty and I wanted to be able to make my own mods down the road. I love this bike but the only issue I have is the speedo on the bars makes custom bars more difficult, not impossible. But now it is a challenge to decide what to do to get t-bars on it. You would think that with this economy they would want to sell a more affordable bike. I guess not.
I love the dynas that is why I ride a street bob but I do feel some times the dyna line is the "red headed step child" of Harley bikes.
Thats exactly what the whole FX line is, and has been. If it wasnt for a bunch of drugged out hippies in So Cal that thought it was funny to put a sporty front end on a FL chassis, we wouldnt have Dyna's at all.
