Default wobble???

I have a 97 Dyna wide glide fxdwg that I bought in January. Recently I have been riding more and I am experiencing a wobble. It isn't in the handle bars, when you hit 75 to 80 mph it feels like you are driving on a milled road. It doesn't matter the road. I have tried 4 differant roads.
Thanks for any help.
Kelly

Be careful on that bike until you get it checked out.

I only had a faint wobble when going through certain turns at 70+ mph on my '97 WG. I then installed a 21" x 3.5" front wheel with a 120/70 tire and also had the isolators / motor mounts replaced and those same turns I was able to hit 90+ before the faint wobble would re-appear.

As said, check your bike over.

What kind of wheels do you have? Spoked rims need to be checked once in awhile, either cast or spoked they do need to be balanced.....could have lost a weight. Had a sporty years ago that had the machined rims with spokes, one night hit a small bump and the bike went into a death wobble, of course I was doing about 80...found out the front wheel was not balanced.

Yep, check the run out of the rims if they are spoked. Get the front wheel off the ground and tape a pointer (bent piece of wire) on a fork tube with the tip of it just at the lip of the rim. Spin the tire and watch how much it moves side to side and up and down. If it doesn't run true, there is your problem. Otherwise it is probably an out of balance tire/wheel combination.

I've trued spoked rims with a spoke wrench, pointer and a bit of patience.

Yep. Had the same thing when I put a used rim on. Spokes wound up being way loose and I could see the wheel wobble going down the road. They have to be checked every year. They should all sound the same with a crisp sound, not a thunk.

Most common causes of wobble are loose spokes, cupped (worn)tires, under inflated tires, and improper fall-away adjustment. Check all the obvious things. I have found on the Dyna, if I set fall away per the manual, I will get a little wobble. When I set it just a tad tighter than manual suggests, wobble is gone.

Tires were new a couple of monthes ago. The front is spiked and the back is a mag. There is no wobble in the handlebars at all. It feels like the rear. I am trying to find someone local to have them check the balance on the tires.

Inspect the rear swingarm mount. You might need to replace motor mounts or swingarm/transmission mounts.

The other thing you can check is the bushings in the rear swingarm. I have had them loosen up on on older 70's honda and it cause the bike to wobble. Just another thing you may want to inspect.
