well, its the same style of pin, and there is a small tab in there that needs to be pushed, but its not like the ones in the video. those are attached to the controls, but the lights have small one piece connectors. theres another thread on signals on the first couple pages here that has pics of them.
im not too worried, i diagramed everything pretty well and have done it before on my older sportster. that thing was kind of a POS though. something always went wrong, so im used to putting everything back together, turning it over and getting a blown fuse. hopefully not this time.
lol!! I know what you mean, luckily for me I just didn't seat the connector all the way and that happened to be the first thing I checked. Double check you double check and it should be good to go.
man, those pins are a bitch to get back in the molex connectors the right way! took forever, but i somehow managed to get it all back together. the right way.
tomorrow ill figure out some brackets for the signals. cant decide if i wanna do em down by the controls like yours, or just get mounts for the forks. i like the control idea, but for some reason i just have this image of a rock or debris flying up and blowing out the signals. normally i wouldnt care, but the bike came with really nice kurykan LED signals that would be $$$ if i had to replace. blah. we'll see tomorrow.
why do i post in this thread like im just talking out loud to myself? ha. thanks for listening/helping.
got everything i needed to mount them like you, and then couldnt get the damn controls off. whoever put em on stripped out on of the bolts. figured id have to throw em on the fork tubes, but after calling around no one in town had clamps for that. then i get a brilliant idea..... break out the caliper. downtube is 39mm. my 02 sporty has 39mm forks. i dug through a box and found my old signal clamps from that. mounted em to the downtube and called it a day.
- dont ask about the shifter peg. i scrapped the kurykan stuff the PO had on there, but cant find a stock-ish peg that will fit the shifter arm. trying to figure out how to fab something.
That's different. Mine are on the bottom of the forwards. They aren't in the way of the shifter or brake pedal?? It looks good that way too!! You should get a full bike shot.
naw, not in the way at all. shifter slides right up next to it, but doesnt hit it.
ill get better pigs tomorrow hopefully.
not quite as clean/hidden as your set up, but works with what ive got and was free, so works for me.
over the winter im pretty sure ill wind up springing for the joker signals. so nice, so clean.
I see you're already knee deep in the project. Just wanted to point out that you can disassemble the bullet signals themselves down to some wires with solder connections on them. You just need a flat blade screwdriver and a coathanger.
Maybe that info will help the next guy when he's doing a search.
