I am wondering! I would like to install the Grenade Coil on my bike, this coil is used on the Rocker C and the new Blackline and I believe that I should be able to plug it right up with no issues. Please correct me if I am wrong there!
However my bigger obsticale is that I would also like to be able to use the ignition swithc that is used in this coil, giving me the ability to not have to hang the key and just have a switch to turn much like what is achieved with the wide glide ignition mode so many have done. The issue is that when I look at the wiring diagrams the Dyna has a three wire set up (ACC/BATT/ON) and the Softails have a two wire setup (Ground/Ingnition).
Does anyone have any idea as to how to make the ignition/key housing that goes in the Grenade Coil work in place of the Dyna's setup?
Thanks for any help in advance!
Here is what it looks like, for anyone that hasen't seen it before.
That setup looks great and would work better for me with the ignition switch on the left. Have always had problem with ignition key on the rh side of my bikes since it makes it nearly impossible to apply the brake with the right hand and hold the bike still on even a slight incline and work the ignition switch at the same time. The only way I know is to keep the bike in gear, rh handlebar run switch to off, turn ignition key switch on, hold the front brake on, put the bike in neutral, turn the run switch on while holding the front brake and simultaineosly start the motor and go in gear for takeoff. Ignition switch should either be on the bikes left side or tank instrument panel.
Keep us posted on the grenade/switch installation.
Do it man. I like it and may consider it in the future. It's just a coil and switch. There ain't no hokus pokus. Same motor and same ignition requirements.
I really want to do this, but like I stated the two ignitions are wired nothing alike. I will try and get the diagrams to show everyone what I amtalking about.
I think the key is just to trace the wiring from the ECU to the switch ... if the grenade switch doesn't control one of the functions that is controlled by the stock Dyna key switch, that would have to just be rewired ...
... or maybe the switch body off the Dyna could be adapted to the grenade housing ...?
