2011 WG. Need help
I just picked up my new wide glide yesterday. I am now looking at pipes and air cleaner. I am thinking the Vance and Hines short shots. Not sure on what intake though. Any suggestions??? Also the dealer said it would be better to have them remap it then put a fuelpak or any type of fuel management on it? Is this true. This is only my 2nd harley. First that I am actually doing mod work myself.
I went with V&H short shots SE high flow intake and air breather and SE stage 1 factory download. And man what a change you will be happy lots of luck with the bike I love mine.4000 miles so far not a hint of any problems most of the miles done in the winter.Hope this helps you some.
Me thinks the dealer is wanting more profit....which there ain't nothing wrong with that.
Just installed the V&H Bigshots staggered on my '10 WG last month and love them. I can hear the bike now. Also installed the K&N high flow filter and did the Fuelpak myself. No problems other than finding where the Fuelpak fits under the seat in the electric box which was solved with a call to the company in CA.
Do it yourself and the ride will be more enjoyable!

not a great short shot fan , i like the wide glide exhaust set up , Ive got a fat bob ,& i really wanted to keep the stock pipe look , so i just went with the rush slash down slip ons , it all looks the same but sounds better , no need to do a map or tune .
The general rule seems to be , if your doing the pipes and a/c you will need some type of fuel upgrade , paks and others are changeable , chip over maps are set , ie . u will need to do a new map every time you change something , a fueller just needs a new set of numbers , so id do a plug in fueller if it was me .

I'm running V&H short shots with the SE heavy breather along with a PCV from Fuel Moto. Fuel Moto installed a map for me before they sent the PCV so it was ready to go right out of the box. I've been really happy!
I had short shots and a roland sands air cleaner on mine. Power commander 5 from fuel moto. It was a bad machine.

From what I understand, if you spend the money for the dealer to load the map, you'll have to pay them again if you make any more changes. I went with the PC-V from Fuel Moto. Great price, and all the options you'll ever need for future upgrades. Very good tech support, also.
I've been running mine in open loop for a couple of weeks, with the SE Stage 1 air cleaner kit and the Rush slip-on mufflers with 2" baffles. Sounds great, runs great, runs cooler. Running cooler was my main reason for the upgrades. These 96'ers run hot from the factory. I was really surprised at the amount of heat generated from these engines.
