my bike is constantly fighting me. I give her the best and she rejects me. the real ******* is, it needs painted again. Now I wrecked it and had it repainted and NEVER liked it, wasn't what I asked for and it never fully cured. The day i took them off you could still indent the paint with your finger nail. I tired to have a local guy powder coat them and.....yep messed it up. they messed it up so badly that it was a total redo. it also looks like they blasted it with gravel. so off to a local painter whom I know personally to paint it, guess what looked great until it sat in the sun for 12 hours and I guess fully cured.....pit city, orange peel, crap. I call him no problem under warranty but, I have to take it all apart again and redo it...time lost, money lost, agitation. SO do I have him paint it again, and hope for the best or do it right spend more $$ and send it out to the powder pro? opinions please??
Justin you get what you pay for alot of times, are these real shops or guys out of their garage? as much as i would love to have you send them to me to do the work, that is alot of money and time you have put in... i would give the painter a shot to redo the mistake... you sure he knows what he is doing though? pits and peel is typically cauased from poor prep and/or not blocing out your primer with a glide coat... to be honest sounds like the painter is not sure what he is doing and may have bit off more than he can chew
the painter is a legit shop, I mean not big time but full time, he does a ton of work and I am sure it is just a over site, however the fact still remains that I am to the point where instead of worring about money I just want it right. There is no way I am missing another summer with out my scooter so I am doing nothing until fall. I am getting really tired of redos though....
Mcdonald auto body on Chrysler and 40 in Independence did a sportster tank for me and it turned out great if you need a good local guy. The guy that does bikes there is named Dave Pew.
