looking for some t-bars for my 2010 superglide, what kind are you guys running and how do you like them?
Thanks
Steve
It all depends on your current seat, foot controls and body dimensions. Also, do you just plan to cruise around town on short jaunts or get out on the open road for an hour or two at a time?
What worked best for me (6'1" 34" inseam) around town got a bit uncomfortable on the highway. The lower set-up at around 5 to 6 inches of rise will give you the best low speed manners with about 5 to 6 inches of pullback and 28 to 32 inches of width. For longer rides, try for about 9 inches of pullback with the same 6" rise and 30 (+/-2) or so inches of width.
I liked all of my riser/drag bar combos and my current T-bar set-up...way more than the factory buckhorns, but it was still an ongoing quest to get it right for me.
My next set-up (on order) is 6" rise, 9" pullback and 30.5" wide. That should give me a less humped over posture for the long rides.
Your arm length is also a major consideration, I have monkey arms, 36" sleeve, so minimal pullback works for me. I have straight 8" rise Wild1s and no issues other than I actually wish they were a little further forward. It's the one thing I miss about apes, you cannot adjust these.
I have done a few 700 mile days with these and they are no problem.
My 2010 came with 10" chubby tbars, I enjoyed them for a few months but I've since grown out of them. Ordered westcoast 14" mx bars last week. Waiting for deliverary then try my hand at installing them myself. Hopefully the install goes well.
