Bought my first Super Glide back in 1977. Bought a FLHTC in 1984. Thought it was what I wanted.

Not.

It was like sitting in front of a 20" Box Fan hour after hour.

Got out of biking for a while and when I decided it was time to look for a new one, it wasn't even a decision -- Super Glide. All the way. No decision to make, didn't even cross my mind.

I like the Wide Glides too. The looks are killer but I can't ride one due to a crushed left ankle that won't flex enough to shift gears. But the Super Glide (IMO) handles the best of ALL the Harley Big Twins and you can do to it about whatever you want if you're in that kind of mood.

Just me.

In 2005 I went in looking for a Wide Glide, I was convinced that was what I wanted, however I ended up leaving on a 2005 Decue as I just couldn't resist it when i saw it. When I bought my 2010 Wide Glide I went in specifically for that bike down to the color and left with exactly what I wanted.

I kind of stumbled into my Dyna ....

I had been out of riding for quite a few years and a shipmate was letting me borrow his Road King in Guam since he was off the ship ... when he got back I told him I was thinking about buying an XL 1200 ... they had some on the island via overseas military sales and I was about to pull the trigger ....

He gave the age-old advice to get the 'big twin' ... so, I e-mailed (we were at sea) for a Super Glide ... sight unseen (other than the brochure) .... I wanted to get a Road King as that was what he had and I really liked it ....

I think I would have been as happy with the Road King ... but, I do think that I probably would not have learned nearly as much about the bikes as I have owning a Dyna since I have done so many mods ... if I'd gotten a Road King, I probably would know how to bolt on chrome accessories ... LoL

When I turned 50, I decided to get another Harley. (I had a couple Sportsters when I was a kid, but had been without a bike for about 23 years.) I went to the dealer planning on getting a Sportster, and left with an FXD. Never regretted the decision. Still have it, and have added an UltraClassic to the stable too. Fortunately for me, the wife has a Sportster, so I get to ride them all. Only thing I do not have is a softail. Maybe I'll get a Fatboy next year to add to the clutter in the garage.

Mine was by accident. I was just started looking around to see what was what. Went into the dealer one day and this FXDC had just been rolled onto the floor a couple hours earlier.

I loved the color scheme and it had almost all of the things I thought I'd ever put on it (*cough* famous last words *cough*) like forwards, windshield, sundowner seat, sissy bar and a fair bit of chrome beyond the stock FXDC.

I have not regretted it one time since. I HAVE regretted scraping pegs, exhaust, primary, ... Maybe it is time to add something harder to scrape. ;-) Of course, it may be cheaper to replace pegs, mufflers and primary every once in a while.

I was/am a chopper guy by nature. First saw a dyna I liked in 02. T-Sport model and I was hooked. Never thought I needed one until a few years ago..and by then they were long gone and crazy expensive used. Sold a chop and bought a sportster (lol too cheap to pass up) was everything I wanted it to be except in a little bit too small of a package. Sold it and found my 04 fxdx when I wasn't even looking for one. So kind on accident and by choice. Always knew I'd get one, but never actively sought one out. I'm usually never in love with bikes, as everything has it's price...but I can't bring myself to consider selling this one anymore. A little while ago I was going to but decided to go all out on it instead. It's exactly how I want it for the most part. Looks killer, runs killer, stops, turns killer...well as good as a 600# H-D can but for me it's plenty.

First bike was a Vulcan 800 (hard to afford more on a married Army E-4s salary). Rode it for a few years. Gave it to the wife and bought a Vulcan Nomad after the Army because i thought i couldnt afford a Harley. Set it up like a S.G. Fairing, stereo, exhaust, etc..the whole works...Rode that a year or 2. Then saw the 2010 W.G. Really wasnt much of a choice for me after that.

Went to the dealer and traded in the 800 and the Nomad. Bought my wife a Street Bob and me the Wide Glide. Thought about the Road King but the $$$ just wasnt right and i really wanted something smaller again, so it was either the W.G. or a cheaper Dyna to save money, but the wife laid it out plain and simple for me. I had been drooling over the Wide Glide for 6 months, she said thats what i really wanted, then thats what i was getting, no substitutes. (yes i love my wife) .........

There are times that I want a bagger again for convenience..... But only way i want that is if the Dyna is in the stable along side it!

I hadn't ridden in 12 years. One day I walked into a Harley shop on a whim and saw the Street Bob. I had to have it.

A year later, I finally bought one.

I'd say I still love it....but it's only been a week!
