Accident. I went in to buy a nightrain, but I just wasn't feeling it and wasn't comfortable. I always wanted a softail since I was a kid, but I left with the Street Bob. I sat on a train, fatboy, crossbones and just no that comfortable. I sat on the SB and it felt right and was way more comfortable. Best choice I made after being on this forum for a while and how much fun the bike is to ride.
Accident!! I went to the dealership with $$$ in my pocket to buy a Black Electra Glide. After sitting and testing all the bikes in the showroom I kept coming back to this Brilliant Silver Super Glide.
It had what I wanted and nothing I did not want. I decided then to buy and that I would customize to my likes.
Can't speak for the handleing of the new SG but my WG handles like a dream.
Mine handles fine, too, but nothing like the old SG's. I'm talking 90mph plus on twisty-turny roads, laying 'em over a bit. I drag the pipe too much on my WG when I push it kinda hard. I gotta remember that these bikes weren't designed for that.
Accident! I had gone to a local auction earlier one Tues. in hopes of leaving on a heritage Softail. Later that day, I went to a local Honda dealership to buy some exhaust packing for my 960cc Can-Am Renegade X ATV. As I was leaving, I noticed the 06 FXD right up front in the showroom. It was a trade-in on 4 dirt bikes. Walked right past it on the way in...rode it home!
Back when you had to put your name on a wait list(1994), I didn't get the FXR I really wanted. Only thing left at the end of the year was a 883 Sportster Hugger. Fast forward 14 years after saving all my pennies I was able to buy an '08 Street Bob. Worth the wait!
rode a ridige frame knucklehead untill 1972. Bought a bagger. Didnt like the heavy feel. wrecked it,and tried to chop it, still looked like a stripped down bagger. went back to my knuckle. In 79 i bought a super glide. loved it . tried a soft-tail for a year , and couldnt corner, bought a 05 WG and will own it till I die. Will keep my loves for knuckles alive tho.
Knew I wanted a bike, but had to wait for some nasty legal proceedings to finish. Did my research and rode a few different bikes. Once I was sold on Harley, I was sold on the Wide Glide.
After having BMWs for eight years, and then not riding at all because I got married to a wonderful woman who refused to let me be in so much danger, I was in the market for a bike again when widowed and about to retire.
This time I could pay cash and I wanted to buy American. I looked at every model of American bikes in detail. I soon gave up the idea of a Victory. . . they look like cartoons to me, even though I think they have impressive drive trains. The Fat Bob had just come out, and I always thought I was a Sportster or Dyna Glide guy, I like to ride, I want handling and "feel." I would have bought a Nightster but it was a bit small for me. A test ride on the Fat Bob sold me. I've had my '08 now since November '07 and I couldn't be happier. I had this nagging doubt that maybe I should have gotten a touring model, but a few months on a rented Street Glide while my crunched Fat Bob was in the shop (most of the time just waiting for the other guy's insurance to agree to the estimate) cured me of that. . . I missed my Fat Bob every mile on the Street Glide, I just didn't dig the fairing and the "feel."
