Default Superglide

I'm considering buying a Superglide Custom. I'm 6'1 with a 34" inseam and in the showroom the mid controls didn't feel too bad. Are there any long-legged Superglide owners out there that ride using the stock controls? If so, what is your riding impression? Thanks.

We have the same height and inseam and I bought a Superglide with the mids. They fit me fine, but I was concerned about leg cramping since standing on the pegs to stretch the legs, like I do on dirt bikes, wasn't really an option.

I quickly switched to extended forwards. They aren't the best from a handling aspect, but I'm an older guy that needs to stretch out a bit.

You can always just put highway pegs on and keep the mid-controls, that's how I did a Sportster years ago. You could also do extended forward controls like I did on my FXD. As a back-up, you could keep the mid foot pegs. Neither of these are the best arrangements, because you want the controls to be handy at all times.

I suggest just doing a Kury extended forward contol conversion. This will keep your existing splined shifter shaft in place to quickly switch back to mid controls if you don't like it.

On the other hand, since you are comfortable with the mids, as are many other riders, just stay with them. When you get old and prone to cramps, you can get forward controls.

I have a 33" inseam and on my fxdx I use mid controls and highway peg's. I'm not bothered using the mid's, and if I start to get uncomfortable I put my feet out on the highway peg's. I don't like forward controls.

I like the flexibility the highway pegs offer. Although not as tall as you guys (5' 11"), I prefer to use the mids in heavier traffic, and when it lightens up go to the hwy pegs and just heel shift.

I have a 2011 FXDC and am 6'1 with 34' inseam and the forward controls were a must for me. That said I wish I would have got the Kury extended but the HD forward controls are fine. I could not deal with the mids as when you get on the highway and put some miles on the scoot they make you cramp up.

i'm 5'11" & 290, i wouldnt dream of going without my forwards. i did put a set of mid brackets & pegs back on the stock position, so on the long rides i have places to shuffle my feet to. it works out great for me...either way, if you stick with the mid controls, i think you will need some highway pegs. if you go with forwards, i'd leave the mid brackets and pegs on as well. i think its best to have both...no matter where the controls are

I am not really tall but just wanted to comment what some of the others have said about highway pegs. I have those on mind for stretching out if I feel cramped on my mids. I find I have more control of my bike when using the mids expecially in traffic and going through twisted roads. You can always buy another seat too that will sit you back and rise you up. Just another option for you.

FXDL i'm 6'1 with32 inseam mid controls When I get uncomfortable I just use the highway bars and heel shift. Not the best but forwards are just not for me.

I am 6'3" 250 and have 3" over forwards and mini apes, and the bike fits me perfect. I have ridden a friends FLH and don't have as much room on it as my SG.
