Ricor Iniminator Performance
Having just got my Super Fat Project back on the road with Itiminators installed with the recommended amount of Amsoil 10wt on stock springs with the OEM spacer shortened for the RI's height. I would say they do work better than stock but there's not that "OMG these are amazing" feeling that I was sort of expecting from what others have said. I know that with the stock FXDC setup things were pretty choppy when riding on concrete interstate where they have those tie strips installed between the sections - as I said its better but not what I was expecting. My impression is that it might be a bit over damped - I'm only about 185lbs with gear on - is a switch to 7.5 or 5wt oil in order.
I would double check your loaded sag and confirm you are at proper ride height. I believe its supposed to be 1 inch loaded sag. As far as damping goes only YOU will know what you like best, so dont be afraid to try different fluids to see what works best for you. It does sound like its damped too heavy for you with 10wt by your feedback, question is does it feel 50% too stiff or 25%.
The biggest thing I noticed at first was that under heavy breaking, the front end did not dive or clunk. I also did not shorten my spacer the total thickness of the RI. I like the front a bit stiffer than what it would have been. So far I'm pleased with the upgrade. I'll be happier when I get the rear Ricors on. Got them on order so any day now.
You can try removing some of your fork oil.
I'd play around with removing some out of mine, too, but even with the spacer trimmed, I had a VERY hard time getting that fork cap back on. I'm not looking forward to doing that again.
How Eric got the caps back on, without shortening the spacers, must have been a Herculean effort. How did you do it? Maybe since I bought slightly used the previous guy had heavier springs installed.
By the way, the Intiminators weren't a night and day difference, neither were the rear Ricor shocks, but I sure noticed an improvement on sweepers, R/R crossings, rough roads and braking.
For that matter my PosiTrac wasn't a night and day improvement, but I sure scrape the pegs a lot more often and feel I have better control at high speed.
My stage 1 upgrade was unnoticeable, too, but I picked up 10 MPH on the top end. Stage 4 was definitely felt!
I guess since we aren't riding a track and timing our laps after each performance upgrade, we just don't notice or appreciate what each little improvement actually does.

I've never had any clunks when braking and with the second disc up front now I still don't seem to - only have one short ride though but it seems good. It definitely drives when you hit the brakes but I wouldn't say excessively so. I didn't have any trouble at getting the caps on - first I bought the tool from jims which is a very low profile and I think that helps but the biggest thing is don't try doing it without clamping the tube in some way. I put mine in the trees to hold it, then used the jims tool with a 6" extension on my ratchet. And what I found easiest was not to try turning it with the wrench but use the wrench to apply downward pressure and spin the socket by hand and it went right on. I'll have to play with the fluid level and weight a bit - maybe call Ricor and see what they suggest too.
As parts eeter states, set your sag prior to playing with fluids. I'd start somewhere between 25 and 30% of the full travel. If you're set-up outside of this range you will be hitting min or max compression too soon, impacting the quality/smoothness of your ride.
I had a similar ho-hum response after I first put on my Intiminators, but I have since learned to really appreciate their addition to my overall ride quality. I had serious issues with brake dive during slow-roll manuvering while parking. A light touch on the brakes would cause me to nearly lose my balance, but no more. The best improvement is during aggressive cornering over uneven pavement or tar-snakes. I feel significantly less road input at the handlebars which tells me that my front wheel is maintaining better contact with the pavement. I don't think I fully appreciated the increased handling from the Intiminators till I put on Ricor shocks in the rear.
This is not a Ricor testimonial as much as it is a comment on the truly CRAPPY quality of the stock MoCo suspension. When upgraded to quality suspension components (by Ricor, Olins, Werks or whatever), both front and rear, a Dyna can become a twisty eating machine. If straight line knuckle dragging is your thing, save your money and buy some louder pipes!

I installed the Works triple rated front springs along with the Ricor intiminators and trimmed off an inch off the spacers.
I filled to the proper fluid level(10 wt amsoil).
I did notice a big difference in the handling.
The stock suspension was way too weak and bottomed out out the box.
I knew I had to change that and very happy with my setup.
I have not bottomed out since and when those unexpected holes show up beneath me I just ride on.
The handling is great, best improvement is when the wind blows I do not get tossed about on the freeway. Passing big trucks and going over high bridges is much more safe.
