Relocated my rear turn signals, wired them all up, and before bolting it all back together I tested and they worked fine, what I failed to do was test with the tail lamp plugged in as well.
So put it all together, tested sigs again and now all 4 flash when I press either the left or right button. Checked for grounds and shorts when it's all together and all looks ok. I pull it apart again and discover it all works fine with the tail lamp disconnected, but all sigs flash when I plug the tail lamp back in.
Checked it all against my manual and it looks good but clearly I've botched something.
Anyone seen this and can recommend a fix? It's probably a small stupid mistake I've made but I can't seem to nail it down.
Did you have to rewire from the light socket all the way to the plug? If you did double check your keying in the socket for the insulator. If you have those keyed wrong you could get bogus lighting problems. I had my signals keyed wrong the first go around and had lighting problems.
The other thing you need to do is double check those connectors under the seat. make sure your wires match straight through. If you got that right disconnect and use a meter to test for any wires grounding out to the frame.
While trying to work out this signals issue, I managed to ground or short something that resulted in my TSSM frying itself!
And just to add insult to injury, it's a public holiday, everything is closed, so I won't get to a dealer to replace the TSSM until tomorrow..and I am sure they'll have to order one which will totally ruin my weekend.
All this crap just to move sigs to hang a pair of saddle bags!!
I am having a beer and leaving it till tomorrow before I break somthing else...
After a beer and cooling down, I went back, and rewired the rear sigs, triple checked everything, belled out all my wiring point to point and it's all good. With any luck I'll get a new TSSM tomorrow and it will be all good to go. Double checked fuses as a precaution, they're ok.
Just hope I can get a TSSM tomorrow as I have an 800 km trip planned for the weekend
