Think someone already mentioned it but. Shock studs are shorter, so hardware store it up for upper and lower hardware. The 00+ adjustable front ends are their own animal and the regular progressive drop in lowering kits won't work. Your plan on swapping or selling the stock stuff in favor of regular non adj parts is a sound one and would save you time and money. I'd like a heads up before they hit the classifieds if you wouldn't mind. I need this setup for a project so I'd be interested. I have a dyna rear shock lowering block kit that I'd gladly trade for that front end just throwing that out there lol.

If your looking to lower the front end. Loosen the pinch bolts on the upper, and push the tubes up an inch.

I'm selling my whole front end. Complete with 21" wheel and tire, calipers with brand new Lindall pads, rotters, master cylinder with lever and chrome headlight nacelle. I'm throwing in the fender, not painted and handel bars.

It's in great conditon, no pits or dings in the powder coat on the lowers.

If anyone interested PM me. I have photos. I'm throwing it on Ebay next week.

I lowered my 00 fxdx I took the stock shock bolts out and did a little grinding and flipped them around now they will allow any normal shock for dyna, the Front End was a different story I basically took out the second spring and the put everything back together and the bike sat pretty level

I am sure plenty of sportster guys would swap you a lowered 39mm narrowglide for that FXDX setup you have..Check the sporty section.

The hunch I have (and correct me if I'm wrong), is that the forks on the '00+ have adjustable dampening, and the '99 does not? If this is the case, are the fork springs indeed different as well? Or....?
'99 and '00-up FXDX models have different parts in the inner tubes (click links to view respective parts diagrams)

If the OP isn't, maybe someone else may make good use of this information?
