Default FXDX gurus, inside please!

Alright, on my quest to bastardize my bike with this burly slammer kit, I've run into yet another snag...

Main question: what's the difference in the '99 and '00+ FXDX shocks and forks?

The hunch I have (and correct me if I'm wrong), is that the forks on the '00+ have adjustable dampening, and the '99 does not? If this is the case, are the fork springs indeed different as well? Or....?

The rear shocks, I have no clue about. J&P states in their catalog the 00-05 fxdx needs some kinda spacer with Progressive shocks? This leads me to believe, yet again, there's something different but I'm in the dark as to what it is. Anyone know what the deal is?

Basically, Burly told me they don't even list this Slammer kit for the '01 FXDX that I have. It DOES fit a '99 FXDX, which is why I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. Even though every distributor lists it for "all models 91-05".....

And consider this a heads up, if all this stuff is in fact different and I can't lower it with these forks in, ill be putting my front end up for trade for a normal Dyna front end. My shocks will already be up for sale too as well regardless. So if someone would want to do thr changeover, this could be your chance....

Thanks in advance, even if you don't agree with what I'm doing to my bike.

Nothing at all as far as I know. I was simply stating I have an '01. Everything I see shows '00-'05 as the same for the FXDX.

The issue with the FXDX is the rear upper and lower shock mount bolts is shorter than a standard FXD, you will need to purchase a grade 8 bolt to attach the burly shocks, or order the FXD upper shock mount and lower bolts , then any shock will fit, i know this as we had the same problem on my firends 01 FXDX

Well that solves that! I have a fastener store a stones throw from me, so that's not an issue whatsoever.

Is the inner diameter of the shock eyelets different? That deal J&P says you need looks to be some kind of sleeve. Just being curious

From what I understand, yes, the fork internals on the '00+ are very different. How? No idea, lol, I have a '99. My forks aren't adjustable, just a dual disc narrowglide.
