They make several different models. I have the largest one, with the clear cellphone pocket on the left. The magnets are strong and the bag stays put in winds and high speeds without shifting around. I use it all the time and I'm very happy with it.
For those that have one, I've always wondered - if you use it all the time, does it damage the paint? Do you have marks from where the magnet sticks and dirt build up - or even from dirt trapped under the magnet?
I think the utility of a tank bag on my daily 170 mike round trip with toll bridges would be great but I never pulled the trigger because i don't want the shadow of the tank bag left behind when I'm just out stylin' and profilin' with my baby. LOL
I have a mapcase made by Tbags that is held onto the tank by "rare earth" magnets. I used to use it to hold my maps, obviously, but now I use it to hold my phone (I now use my smart phone to navigate instead of paper maps).
Been using it for years in all kinds of riding... Never one scratch.
I have one that I have been running for over a year. I pull it off when I get to work or when I get home, so it never stays on when not in use unless I am going into a store for something. I have no damage from the bag at all and it doesn't move one bit. Very nice bag!
I used to use a magnetic tank back on my black Triumph. Be super careful that your tank and the bottom of the bottom of the bag are kept clean, and keep a good coat of wax on the tank. You will probably get tiny scratches no matter what you do. They may come off with an application of Scratch-X or cover/fill with wax. I am too paranoid about my paint to even think about using one again.
I used one on my R1 everyday for a couple of years, never had any issues with it and it was great to have around. It would however start coming off the tank around 140 or so, but most people don't have to worry about that
got one and was using it on a trip across southern Kansas and it got caught in a wind and blew right off i doubledback got it and took my seat off and tucked the bottom edge under my seat lip that helped keep it on ...now this was Kansas and i did have a 30-35 mph wind coming across the road lol!
