The dyne charts only showed gain in horsepower over 5500 rpm... Otherwise it was down from stock!

No, that's not the case. Every single 2 into 2 pipes will suffer at the low end and give good power at the high end.

2 into 1's are best for low end torque and power.

That being said, I had the V&H Big Radius pipes on my bike and then the Bassani's. I didn't feel too much of a difference between the two, but the sound from 2 into 2 pipes is much better. You will get a clear cadence of the engine as opposed to the sound of a 2 into 1 pipe.
