Shorter shocks and fork lowering kit are one way. With the seat, it all depends on what you have now. I don't see any possible way to get the seat any lower on my bike with the factory seat, but mine is plenty low anyway. I'm actually going with a somewhat taller seat, but that's just for the extra cushion. The factory seat is a pain in the *** on longer rides.
Just be aware that a shortened suspension will equal a harsher ride. What is your reason for lowering the bike? If it's for foot reach more than "the look", I'd do some research into shorter seats. An upholsterer could also maybe shave that inch.
aside from lowering the entire bike you could try the Reach seat, it will move you down and forward about an inch each way. I had one on my Dyna, but in my option it was the most uncomfortable POS ever made, but I am built on a large frame so if you are smaller it might just work for you. Good Luck and Welcome Aboard.
