Default Inner Primary Bearing Help

I have a 2006 Dyna Wide Glide with 14,300 miles on it. Can anyone tell me what and if there are any early warning signs when the inner primary bearing is going out.
I usually do my own work but I will take to dealer if I have to. If the bearing is going out hopefully the local dealer can get it covered.

Thanks in advance.

Mine started making a whirring sound like a ....bad...bearing (just messing with you)! It was east to identify, I could hear it in neutral but when I pulled the clutch and kicked in gear it stopped. To get it covered you have to call HD customer service and get a reference number and that is a total crap shoot. I called and was given the run around. Called again and talked to a different person and was given the number. The dealer has to diagnose it which the charge for. Ours played stupid and had "never heard of that issue". Rather than paying them I bought the Baker bearing (6205Z) which came with a new seal to work with it but I don't remember the number. I would address the rotor/stator issue while you are there. I didn't and it failed later that year.

Cat,
This is a known issue with the '06 Dyna. Do a search on "inner primary bearing" and you'll get a ton of info on the issue. This thread is a good place to start:

I'm getting ready to start the process myself. I thought I would be able to dodge the bullet as I'm at 26k on my '06 LR but I'm getting the telltale signs of the problem. So will be contacting MoCo today to try to get the reference number and talking with my dealer this week to get it looked at. Good luck with yours and keep everyone posted on your progress.

If you do your own wrenching the Baker bearing is less than $50.00. While you have it apart take the 2 piece rotor and have the screws spot welded. This is a dependable fix and cheaper that a new rotor/stator. You should be able to do a job like this in 3 hours if you take your time. You will probably spend more time than that screwing around on the phone then having to deal with the service department.

I have talked to the MOCO and I do have a reference number. I have an appointment with the dealer later this week. The only problem is I leave the country for three weeks on Friday. At least that will give them time to fix it while I'm gone and it will be ready when I get back. My only concern is if they tear it all apart and say the bearing is fine. I tried to get them to install the Baker bearing that I would buy and have MOCO pay for the labor but they don't want anything to do with that, they said it has to be a Harley bearing. I guess time will tell what the outcome will be, This service department hasn't really impressed me yet but on the other hand they haven't screwed me yet either.
