Front fork pop.
Hey. I have a 2006 Low Rider. One month old, 1300 miles. When I first got the bike, I noticed a "pop" in the front forks or from the front. It's mostly when I am turning the bike around on the porch without the engine running. When I push forward and hit the front brake the forks will compress and I hear a "pop". The sound is kind of like when a kid puts their finger in their cheek and pulls it out and makes a noise like the old time bottles with caps that required a bottle opener to open. Sometimes I can hear it when riding and use a little too much front brake coming to a full stop at a stop sign. It doesn't happen every time I stop but is intermittent.
Do other bikes make this noise or is it just mine?
If it is normal, what is making the noise?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
I also have an '06 lowrider. I had a problem with a "clanking" sound going over bumps, especially when the front brake was applied.
I read up on the forum that it is commonplace for the steering head nut to be a little loose, and it needs to be tightened up usually at the 1,000 mile service. When I went in for the 1,000 mile service, the way the technician checked it was to apply the front brake and push forward on the bike, and I could hear a pop or click as the stearing head moved.
So - not sure if you are experiencing the same thing or another issue relating to spring compression / fork oil, but I would think it's possible that the nut on your steering head is loose - just have the dealer check it.
