Default RE: Help!! Forward Controls, Extended or Standard

Thanks for the replies. Right now I have forward pegs and once I put forward controls on the Bob I plan to leave the mid mount pegs in place. Just to have a little versatility. Like I said before I have a 30" inseam and I too am right at 6' tall. It sounds to me like I need to go with the Kuryakyn standard length controls. I do hope that they are just a tad bit longer than the Harley standard forwards, but if not, I'm sure that I will still be satisfied.

Thanks Again

I recommend keeping a keen eye out for each type, approach the owner, and perhaps try them out.

One thing I discovered going out 3 more inches...

The Air Cleaner is now in a bad spot inside my right knee. I was going to change it anyhow next year. But the rear of the stock cover rubs me now. I am more comfy otherwise.

Think I'll have to go the WS6 A/C route. His is sweet!

I am currently looking at the Kuryakyn forward controls but not sure that I want to go with the standard lenght for my Street Bob. At the same time I'd hate to have the extended lenght be too far out. Right now I have forward pegs and find myself with my heels always on top of them when riding.

I have read that the standard length is recomended by Kuryakyn for people with an inseam of 33" or less. My inseam is 30" but I have ridden a friends low rider with standard lenght factory Harley Davidson forward controls and I feel like I would be more comfortable stretched out a little more.

Does any one have the Kuryakyn extended forward controls on their Street Bob and have a 30' inseam. If so are you comfortable and do you like them. Do you regret not getting the standard length.

Please post pictures?

I have the Kury 3" extendeds but I have a 37" inseam. They are a bit small for me I'd like another 2 inches but that's no option !

You are on the right track with getting Mid pegs for moving your feet around on long rides, it works really well, there are plenty on this forum (myself included) who have done this.

Get a couple of bricks, blocks or a box set up at about the same height as your pegs but in front . Measure 3" distance from your pegs and mark at that point. Sit on your bike and see roughly how it would feel to reach the controls if the pegs were at that point. It's important to rotate your right foot forward to simulate braking as that is the longer reach of the two sides. This is often what people forget and find it is too far. I guess keep in mind that when installed you can adjust the brake pedal back to a limited point, the gear lever can be adjusted by being rotated without restriction.

I'll have to try this, this should give me a good idea of what to expect.......Thanks.

I'm just shy of 6' and I was going to buy the Ext Kurys , but the parts sdealer convinced me they'd be too long and I'd be unhappy. Boy was he wrong now I spend most of my time riding with my ankle and all up over the pegs.
