Hello all! Quick info first. Never owned a street bike. Wife and I agree its time. Looking at an 07 Low Rider. 15k miles. $10900 + tax, etc. I'm 6'1", 235. Wife is 5"10", 150. Your opinions on ride comfort, handling, acceleration (bike is stock), price, etc. All comments will be taken into consideration. We want a bike to cruise around town as well as weekend trips of a few hundred miles. Michigan is a good place to do this. If yu haven't been here, come up and ride!
To me the price seems a little steep. It is a 5-6 year old bike. Check KBB used prices and you can usually find something about 10% less than that in this economy. Other than that it sounds like a nice ride n
I promise you that your wife will not be comfortable on the small rear portion of a seat that the Low rider provides. Especially if you are going on rides longer than 20 minutes.
For the amount of money you're talking I would suggest seriously considering a newer, (if not New), Super Glide Custom.
I was in your shoes in 2007, the wife and I were looking at buying.
We checked out the Low Rider and the SuperGlide Custom, ended up going with the Super Glide Custom. Both bikes are great. But currently a new Super Glide Custom is not much more than the price of the used Low Rider your considering.
USA Specifications
U.S. MSRP Vivid Black $12,999. Solids $13,374. Two-Tones $13,694. Custom Colors $13,864
Good luck with your decision and Enjoy whatever ride you decide to go with.
Plenty of comfy aftermarket seats around. Forward controls are great on long or short runs and even with a standard motor it will have all the pulling power you two will need.
In the end it isn't about price alone, its about how you engage with the bike and if you feel the price is what you wanna pay to see it in your garage every morning.....then it will be the right price for you.
Gut feelng, that's what its all about.
I could have bought a newer Superglide with less miles on for what I paid for my Wide Glide but the gut feeling led me to the WG and I am sooo happy with it that I could just wet myself.
Seems a bit steep to me too. I've been shopping for an Harley for the past few months. I just picked up my '09 Street Bob for $9200 with 3k miles on the OD.
I've been searching for a couple of years. EBay, Craigslist and such, comparing prices and all that. I got an 02 FXD with 12K miles, brand new tires (have the invoices, all of them since new) and other goodies for 6300. Local Indy guy said it's like riding a new bike. I'm happy. You could probably find a better deal.
But if ya like the bike... go for it!
Market is different depending on where you live.
Sounds steep to me. Spend your money like you want to but look into a bagger for 2 up riding. In my opinion , it suits the 2 up rider better. Pack a change of clothes and head out! Really, buy the bike you like. If the money suits you, them do it. Check around to make sure you get the most for your money and the price is right. There are good deala out there. Good luck and ride safe,
