Go with the 96 motor. But you'll need some forward controls asap. Actually at 6.4 you'll probably need the +3 inches on the controls. Plus everybody has a softail.
You can black out the motor yourself. It's an easy but tedious process. OR...you can embrace the grey blob! I think black pipes look best with a grey motor.
