On my WG I zip tied my bag to the left side swing arm, works/ looks great. But might get another for under the regulator, seen many with them so assume they work well...
I've tried that last summer but found with the bike on the kickstand and angled in that direction, it made accessing the contents of the bag a slight pain in the butt especially if you have saddlebags installed as well.
To the OP, I have also had my toolbag mounted in the area you inquired about with no issues.
I even had it mounted on the trees directly below the headlight. Not sure if I have a picture of that install. Once the bag became full with tools and such it made hard contact with the headlamp that I wasn't crazy about, which caused me to move the bag down to below the regulator.
I remember someone posting a pictorial of how they used a door hinge mounted to the toolbag, which allowed them to hardmount the toolbag on the underside of the lower tree using the headlamp riser mount bolt. Could be in the 'under $50' thread.
I have one mounted at the bottom of my front bars below the regulator. it is a real thick bag and has a zipper flap then it is covered with the larger belt buckle type cover to keep out water
I keep my heavy tools in this bag since it is attached with a metal bracket.
No water problems, no clearance problems and really looks like it belongs there as far as I am concerned
See my sig pic
Hey Strongwood, Thats a nice bag, is it the windshield type with the hole in the back for mounting. Also, did you use the one of the moter mount bolts to attach it?
Does anyone know the lower engine mount bolt diameter? I bought the HD windshield bag, it's got a mounting hole on the back but it looks kind of small, may have to drill it bigger. Thanks! I didn't realize how many ppl mount the tool bag there, I like clean look.
