Default Batwing fairing, revisited

new here, done the search for fairings but still looking for a piece of the puzzle. I have an 02 FXDL and want to do a faring with stereo on it, I ve looked at the aftermarket ones and see some that will do the job, but the question of "has anyone mounted a HD unit to their dyna?" keeps coming up. Brackets don't worry me as I have the ability and tools to manufacture something that will work, my question is on the looks of say an older roadking fairing mounted to a Dyna. my play is to take an inner and have some fiberglass work done to it (read my buddy has a fiberglass shop and we are going to pull a mold of the inner to elimiate the gage pods)

anyone? pros, cons of using a HD unit?

here is a link going on for my build right now... i have since coated all the hardware, fabbed up new moutn supports for the forks to take more of the weight, and powdered all the hardware...
the bags are now in primer and blocked out ready for paint, have to touch up the block sanding on fairing... paint is on the way so i can shoot it... going to use PPG DCC acrylic single stage gloss black to shoot the bags and fairing...
made new hinges for the saddle bags and welded them up ready to be coated... all the hard ware and some metal bag wraps and fairing wraps will be coated in the blue to match the bike... have not had much time to get on it due to how busy the shop is... but have to have it done by the 15th for a 11 hour ride we have coming... so expect serious updates shortly!

please keep us updated, I am looking at a road king fairing (neighbor totaled his road king and is awaiting word from insurance on whether is a total or if they are going to fix it) he has an aftermarket RK fairing on the bike that I can get cheap if they total it, no damage to the faring that we could see, the frame is tweaked pretty bad tho

all in all you pictures look like what I want to do, here is what i am starting with

My Problem is nobody is posting up Pricing...

Or WHERE To Get the Fairings, what is it called even (part #)?

I also am looking for a Cheap Fairing option for my 07 dyna.

Can I get a Fairing with stereo & speakers for 500-600 buks?

I think if you put your own stereo in you can get a fairing in the 430 range, cheaper if you want to use a road king and fab brackets, I see some on ebay occasionally in the 250-300 range minus radio, here is one I am looking at

http://dragulacycle.com/components/c...fe3a0281a5.jpg
350.00 plus shipping road king

Dyna Sportster fairing
http://dragulacycle.com/components/c...0063717ca9.jpg
399 plus shipping

the Tsukayu fairing is about 750.00 minus stereo

wide open customs is 850.00 with stereo

i happen to be cheap so I am still looking for a lower dollar option, although the dragulacycle unit is probably the one I will go with

fabbing brackets yourself, similar to what Joe did above in his link (I know that is not for everyone)

the Tsukayu faring is about the most complete I have seen, although the Dragula Cycles fairing is pretty complete in its list as far as fitting with their brackets, it sounds like a complete bolt on, the wide open customs fairing (I looked at these in Daytona) are not quitck release, so looking at it I knew I would have to fab up some brackets to make it a quick release anyway

here is yet another option for the road king fairing, this one looks pretty good on the fit and finish

http://www.theusatrailerstore.com/st...cycle-fairing/

its 350 plus shipping but once again brackets to fit a dyna will need to be fabbed and adjusted

reckless motorcycles, makes fairings as well, not dyna specific but none the less makes some, again with some brackets fabbed p, it looks like it will fit, in joes thread above he uses a reckess fairing
