My rear turn signals on my 08 street bob were converted to dual use with the turn/brake module. Everythig has been working fine for over a year. Then the idiot warning came on the left side (blinking fast). It looked like I just had a bad bulb. However the bulb is fine and I checked the socket for power. It lights up the tester with the turn and with the brake. What gives??? You all are always a big help thanks in advance.
If you have one of those Turn signal/Brake light modules in your bike take that out and hook it the stock connectors back together and see if your blinkers work like they should stock. If they do then its your module,
I just replaced mine, I hit a big pot hole the other and it went out on me...
In my accident my right rear signal light was broken off. When repaired the module did not work. I replaced module and works fine. I think the sudden loss of power fries the units. Like you said a large bump or impact could damage the units.
Other problems associated with the Run Turn Brake Module from HD, it can shut your motor down while riding and throw no codes when it's all said and done.. Keep this in the back of your mind for future reference.
