Default customization question...

i was thinking of getting the tins repainted this winter but i was also thinking of getting the frame and swing-arm powder-coated to match. doing it myself with possibly the help of someone experienced with electrical work... how long of a project is it gonna be? anybody got an idea? i was going to paint the tins myself as well so im not worried about cost for that. anybody got any ideas as to how much this is gonna cost me? any additional ideas?

I can't give you a price. I will say that you have to completely disassemble the bike, engine out, wiring harness and everything else, and then reassemble the whole thing. I did it once about fifteen years ago (for paint, not powder) and said I'd never do it again by the time I finished. After all these years, I'm still not interested in doing it again.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Are you a good enough bike mechanic to take your bike completely apart and put it back together again so that it runs? If not, have a pro do it.

well to be honest it is all plug and play... if you have help it can go pretty quick like 12 hours to tear down if you take your time, lable and bag everything, and about 6 hours to install... all the wires are plug and play man... on your swing arm you have to press out the bushings and reseat new ones after coating... i am doing mine this winter in the blue i did my bike in

Joe has a good point. When I did mine I had a really crappy place to work, and did the whole thing solo. With a helper and a good place to work it probably wouldn't be that bad. Just take some time is all.
