where do i find out when my bike was built? my vin # is 1hd1gn1106k------.

From the info you provided you have a 2006 FXDLI with an introduction date of "regular". Without the serial number it's impossible to tell when it was manufactured. If you contact a dealer maybe they can help you out.

Isn't there a sticker on the down tubes with a "born on date"?

The sticker on the frame tube is the most reliable.

the owners manual breaks down the vin so you will know where and when your bike was made . I havent looked at my front down tube on the frame yet to see if there is an actual made in : date on it but the book should help you out.

You have to look through from the left side to see the date on the sticker.

I could tell you exactly what ever digit and number means on the VIN but since the a$$holes that run this place don't like it when I make them look stupid (due to their lack of knowledge concerning motorcycles in general) I am forced to lurk here.
