I have a 2010 dyna fatbob and was thinking of either putting on the screaming eagle stage 1 or the KnN custom assembly. I've heard different things like the KnN is much better than the SE as in getting more horse power. I've also heard that the KnN custom assembly has had problems like bolts coming loose, leaking oil, ect. I've also heard that the KnN is washable and the SE isn't. Can anyone give some helpful advice on this matter? Thanks.
Yep. I got 90,000 miles on the bike and ride all year round with an exposed air filter. I change it out when I can see holes in it. I was wondering if the SE non oil one holds up better. And yes I clean it per K&N instructions with only raw hose pressure and with the supplied cleaner and oil. I dont mind changing it out once a year.

I have no idea what K&N filter you might be talking about... I have a 90* intake with a K&N filter on it, got it used for $20.
I had a SE stage 1 intake prior to acquiring the K&N intake... ther is a noticable improvement with the K&N 90* intake.
Crank case ventilation is always an issue with after market air cleaners. You should always consuider the CCV set up with an AC mod. Here's a pic of my set up... for what it's worth:
Put the SE intake system on my 02 FXD in 2003, back then they used K&N filters. The same filter is still on my bike, wash and reoil it prior to each riding season. The 05 FXDLI also has a K&N filter, no problems here.
You gotta be doing something wrong to go through 4 of them.
The SE filters are paper, and not washable.
I have the SE filter. Does anyone know if there is a big difference in airflow to the K&N? I dont want to have to retune the PCIII if there is a significant difference as mine tends to pop a lot on decel.
