Here's my '07 SB with Fat Boy front. Pictures were taken at the shop right after the rear Road King fender was finished. Next project is to put the matching Fat Boy front wheel on it with a Heritage fender to replace the Dyna 19". Then bigger saddle bags.

ackman1968, I'm sorry that you gotta change out the nacelle. Your bike looks sharp. But I'm glad you mentioned it. I was thinking that a full headlight housing could be a future mod.

I am not a fan of the SG mag front wheel, but it actually looks good on that front end. Bike looks very cool!

It is the *****, I liked it too but there are way too many dogs, cats, coyotes, skunks etc on my way home to run with marginal lighting. I did think about raked trees but that was too much money for a headlight and I wasn't sure where it would put my trail so I axed the idea.

Figure I might chime in ... I don't recall any other modifications I did to the triple trees other than grinding down the inner faces of the fork stops on the lower triple tree.

On the front of the frame, there is also a block that needs to be ground down to make clearance for the front of the lower triple tree.

There is a guy Ken Ridout who has a very instructive website with some great photos and write up that I relied heavily on ... see the following link: http://www.kenandjudy.us/Harley%20Pi...tEnd/index.htm

There are some other photos of his bike and some of the other mods he did ... for example his rear fender at: http://www.kenandjudy.us/MyHarley.htm.

I've been really happy with my FLST front end ... Good luck

* * *

Roofer ... good job ... with the smaller headlight and narrow tire, it looks like your fat boy went on a diet ... looks good black though--just a little different ...

* * *

Rick ... was looking at the parts book issue of Hot Bike mag and noticed that Hawg Halters Inc (HHI) has a 4 degree rake replacement triple trees for FLST ... would solve your problem, but a the cost of around $600 if I recall ... a little pricey in my book ....

* * *

I don't have my records with me, but I think I gave around $600 for a take-off '02 Fat Boy front end ... I sold my 39mm narrow glide for $400 on craigslist ... put about another $250 of so with the 'finishing touches' ... I didn't get the tins and headlight or the fender with the forks ... so, my net cost was probably around $500 ....

Also gave about $130 for the passing lamps/turn signal bracket and lights ... wired and installed them myself ....

Although the guy threw in a front wheel and tire with the forks, it was a dual disc wheel ... I sold it for $100 and bought a set (front and rear) of Heritage take-off wheels for $225 ... replaced the rubber with stock Dunlop replacements .... I don't think I had to replace the bearings, but when I had them powder coated, I replaced the bearings then ....

I have a 07 SG and am trying to find out what years are more or less "bolt-on" for my bike or if there is a preferable year that is the most desireable. One more question, is the heritage front end pretty much the same as the fatboy? I like the spoked wheel alittle better than the mag. Thanks

I looked at those and it was way more money than I wanted to pay just to keep the nacelle. I like it either way and the nacelle will find a home on a Fat Boy if I ever get off my lazy but and ship it to him. I'm "loaning" it to a friend so he can wait!

There isn't a "bolt on" FL front end for our bikes. They all require some modifications. As for the Fat Bot/Heritage front ends they are the same. Buy the forks then add your choice of fender and wheel. With the 06 and newer bikes the neck is different and requires a little fudging to make it work. Take a look here and you can see what I mean. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/4117779-post1.html

I didn't think that it was an actual bolt-on, but I just wanted to make sure that there were not certain years that were harder to adapt than others. Thanks for the info that will help alot.

Make sure you get a post-'86 (I think was the cut-off year) ... before that, the dimensions of the FLST front end were a little different (slightly shorter if I'm not mistaken) ....

FLSTC/FLSTF/FLSTN (Heritage/Fat Boy/Deluxe, respectively) all have the same triple trees and forks ... the FLSTN tins are smooth (slight convexity to the surface) and chrome plated ... FLSTC/FLSTF both have the three 'chevrons' on the face of the tins on either side of the headlight and I think are stainless vice chrome ....

The Fat Boy turn signals are mounted under the hand controls ... the Heritage and Deluxe have the 'hammock' passing lamp/turn signal mounting bar; but, the Deluxe's bar is 'molded' and uses the bullet turn signals vice the lollipop ones like the Heritage ... the Deluxe light bar is more pricey than the Heritage's ....

Rick:

Have you seen the "adjustable" triple trees for the old FLH's ... the upper tree has a pivot that screws into the top of the fork tube and the lower triple tree has two positions that it can lock into to give it a more raked out position or a more upright position ....

See V-Twin Mfg catalog Classic 1915-1983 catalog at the bottom of page 551 ... if bought through Discount Cycle Parts, the following would get it I think:

412.88 ADJUSTABLE FORK TREES, BLACK 24-0797
