Got a flush mount gauge and cap on the bike. Looked at the book and they don't make black ones for the '08, apparently, so myself and my friend who works for Harley looked at the parts and they are exactly the same (the ones that fit an '08 and a '09) so I thought lets just do it then!
Got them installed which was super easy.
The gauge works but the low fuel light is constantly on, the LEDs for how much fuel is in the tank appear to be working (I went up a steep hill and one dot disappeared) and I love the photocell on it that dims the gauge at night.
Anyone have any experience with them? I'm not that bothered as I mainly use my trip but I do like things properly.
I've not had good luck with mine. I got them right away when they came out and the gauge led's died by the second wash. Since they weren't warranted due to installing it myself I just let it go, they would work intermittently. Then the gas cap broke. So I bought a new set since they were updated and had a new part number and the dealer said they'd rectified the issues with the gauge. Bout 5 washes later half the led's quit working along with the little gas pump symbol. The set looks cool though so it stays, at least until the gas cap might break. I use the trip odometer anyway.
