2011 FXDF baffle removal
So this is what did.....
I First removed the two t30 tamper proof screws from the black beauty rings, These two screws also hold the baffles in. I then used a pair of vise grips on the end of the baffles, They will do a little damage but a ball peen hammer fixes them after the job was done. I have a bolt style hook attachment on my 10 lb slide hammer and hook that on the bolt on the vise grips. i heated the first few inches with a propane torch where the screws are to expand the pipe to help free the baffles as they are tight. dont over heat or you can bubble the chrome, just warm them up a bit. I found that one was really hard and i actually tapped the baffle in further with a piece of wood and a dead blow hammer, Sprayed some lloyds moov it and they slid out after 5 or 6 pulled with the slide hammer.
After the removal of the baffles i used needle nose pliers to pull out the mesh and fiber glass wadding and reinstalled the baffles.
The bike is now loader and i can hear my bike when i ride with others. Even though its not as loud as their V&H's, For now it will do, but it gets better.......... When i rode on the highway 5th gear was rough and i would ride in 6th because it was night and day, Now its smooth in every gear, The bottom, Mid and top end are noticeably better and the odd deceleration backfire i used to get is gone completely.
(My avy pic is before i put them on)
Hope this helps
