Default 2011 FXDWG Baffles

What gives here? Are they riveted in, or do I just have to take of the slip on to remove them? Didn't try yet, but from just looking at the exterior it looks like there are rivets holding the baffle in.

Yes there are 3 rivets holding in each baffle. Just drill the head out and the baffle will pull right out. Now you have options. You can just run without any baffle since your catalytic convertor willl supply enough back pressure, not my choice, or look for a baffle that is 3" in diameter and slide it in. Since most aftermarket slipons are the same, its the baffle that will give you the sound. At 1 point i had a pair of rush slipon baffles laying around so i did just that. I slide in the baffle and secured it. Rush baffles were if remember 2 7/8, just shy of the inside diameter. I have seen others talk about other baffles that are a perfect fit.

I have a '10 WG, and the first thing I did was remove the baffles completely. I drilled the rivet heads on both slip ons and pulled them out. I nstalled the Screamin Eagle intake, and did the Stage 1 flash on the computer. The bike runs and sounds great. I don't particulaly like the way the factory pipes look, and will be going with a Thunderheader for better performance. The baffle removal is perfect in the interim however. You can run the bike without the baffles and not need the Stgae 1 download until you mess with the intake. You'll lose a little on the low end, but it's not significant and won't harm the engine.

I pulled the stock baffles and install BCT QQ baffles into the rear of the head pipe. I like this set up better than the black Rush pipes that I originally installed. The stock Pipes are a larger diameter that the Rush slip on's. Bike runs much better with the BCT baffles installed that running them straight open. You need some back pressure...
