Anyone have an opinion/use heat wraps in favor of ditching the heat shield? I run black V&H side shots, thinking the wrap look might go better with the whole theme of my scooter.
Wish I could help answer your question. Give me a few weeks, mine are getting wrapped this weekend while I'm out of town for 2 weeks (1-800-Go Guard). I looked around here on the forum for insight. Going with the DEI brand, 50 ft of black, and the black spray for post wrap. Just doing my header pipes for now. Going to let tailpipe stay true I guess. I've been warned that its gonna smoke and smell like crappy for a few hours. I'll try and post some pics when I get back home.
just wrapped mine 2 days ago with dei. looks ok but still hot as ****! i expected a lot more from what i have heard. i really cant tell a difference. as soon as you wrap get them on the bike and start it for about 30 min. and yes it does stink. good luck its messy as hell.

I have side shots on my bike, no wrap although i have considered it. Side shots are hot as hell on your right leg.
Consider wrapping the pipe and still using a heat shield?
If you need a heat shield that works check out our Leather Crotch Cooler..
Very easy to install
can be customized to match your bike with many different options..
I wrapped mine a couple of months ago and love em. The heat coming off of the pipe is worse, but is also cooler to the touch than heat shields imo. I used rustoleum black grill paint on the pipes before wrapping, due to the rumors that the pipes rust out faster with wraps on them. And then used the paint again on the wrap once on the bike. Pics of pipes in my album.
