Default Need help with speedo removal for my Fat Bob

I'm sending in my console for black powder coating. The sun reflection off the chrome has gotten old! Anyhow I pulled the console from the bike tonight. That was easy two screws and some wires to unplug. What's got me stummped is how to remove the speedo? I've got a service manual but that didnt help.. What's the trick?

from Rocky: "how to remove the speedo?"

After you've unplugged the wire connector at the back of the speedo you'll see a black plastic ring that latches onto the speedo in 3 different spots. Carefully spread the tabs (3) and the ring will loosen enough to where you can start to push the speedo out towards the front of the dash. Once you've got it out far enough you can just grab it from the front side and pull the rest of the way through. There's an insulator gasket that attaches to the opening in the dash for the speedo - that might come off as you're pulling the speedo out so be careful not to yank on it. If you go to my member's page and click on the "speedo/tach install" album you'll find close-up pics that might be helpful to you. Hope you get it all worked out.

If that doesn't work, go to my member's page, click on "show all albums," then see "Speedo/Tach Install."

(edit - Thx Rocky, you beat me to it!)
