yeah i lubed the cable but i guess the burley brand clutch cables are just crap. as far as the death wobble goes, i could take both hands off the bars at 80 no problem but with those apes
i cant even take one hand off at 55. ill take it out again this weekend if i can get the
cable loosend up but im thinkin the responsiveness of t bars are more my style

Mine are 13 1/2 inch, no wobble at all I can let go of the bars and it goes straight... I did a fall away with the bar install, and poly riser bushings.... It didn't take me long to get used to them, and they eliminated the pain in my upper back...

What about mini-apes or z-bars. Do they have similar riding characteristics? thanks.

+1 on poly riser bushings.

I was going to mention that poly riser bushings might actually reduce the crazy wobble your getting. Prior to changing out my rubber bushings my bars would vibrate much more than after the switch, and that was with my stock buck horns over 4 years ago. Might be worth looking into if you at all are considering keeping the apes.

I have 16in apes on my WideGlide and can ride at 75mph one-handed all day long. Lane changes with one hand too. I agree...you have something else going on. This bike is a recent addition for me and the apes do take some gettin' used too, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. Give it a little more time for what it's worth, and good luck. Ride safe!

That doesn't make any sense. If you could take your hands off the bars at 80 before, the bike should not care a bit what bars are on it now if your hands aren't on them.

Is your clutch cable routed correctly so there is no sharp bends or binding? Are the bars too far forward or back in relation to the riser? Also the suggestions of more solid mounting for the apes are a good idea. With the stock rubber mounts apes like to move around a bit.

Oh, and ditto on checking the fall away adjustment. The weight and positioning of the bars may make the forks flop over easier.

I have 14's with poly bushings on stock risers and don't have any wobble problem. It's actually a more comfortable ride for me than with the stock mini apes. Just me though. I ride with someone else that has 16's and he is always afraid he's going to dump it in the curves, so I'm always waiting on him.
