I like the new switchback in the way it's made for long distance and short trips....But I wouldn't trade my 09 fat bob in for it. Would like the take the floorboards and seat from one and put them on my Fat Bob......would this work?
I've thought the same thing about the floorboards. Everything the MoCo makes is interchangeable, except floorboards on dynas. I'd love some floorboards on my fat bob
The dealer says it will be another week or so before they can access diagrahms and part numbers for the floorboards. You will have to buy them piece by piece. The shift rod and brake rod may be reusable from any 2006+ Dyna with forward controls, but don't know for sure. If it can be pieced together for under $500, it will be the death knell for the Wyatt (Chinese made) floorboard kit sold for $400. One way or another, I will be buying the FLD parts when they become available, very high quality and should bolt right on.
I can't imagine that they will cost much more than what you would pay for forward controls. Too much more than that and I'll just put forwards on or stay with mids.

Not sure on the floorboards, Mark. What I see from the Switchback images is that floorboards are the same as used in softail models. I assume MoCo used re-engineered floorboard support brackets that are bolted to the frame tubes. At least the rear brackets are shaped differently compared to the brackets I have on my bike which came from a Dyna Police FXDP model.
Here's a solution to add floorboards to a Dyna that a noticed a few weeks ago:

This Dyna has forward controls & floorboards.
The idea is simple; it's an adapter mounted onto the fwd and mid control brackets. The floorboards are mounted to the adapter. Here are some images (in cell phone quality):
Frame mounting points on the switchback are same as other dyna's. The "new" floorboard brackets move the boards further forward than the were on the FXPD.
